To ensure that the knives you purchase are authentic, here are some steps you can take:

  • Buy from reputable sources: Purchase your knives from trusted and authorized retailers. At House of Knives, we are an authorised partner and we have handpicked and stock only the best premium knives from World Class brands.

Purchasing from an authorised dealer ensures you are receiving authentic knives.

  • Check product packaging and labeling: Examine the packaging and labeling of the knife. Authentic knives often come with detailed and professional packaging, including branded boxes, logos, and product information. Look for any misspellings, poor quality printing, or other signs of counterfeit packaging.
  • Check for warranty information: Authentic knives often come with warranty information or documentation. Verify if the knife you receive includes any warranty cards, user manuals, or other official documentation that aligns with the brand's standard practices.

Remember, it's always important to purchase from trusted sources and be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true. Taking these steps can help increase your confidence in obtaining authentic knives.

Stainless steel is an alloy of iron that is resistant to rusting and corrosion, and contains at least 11% chromium to fall into this classification.

The presence of chromium in stainless steel is essential for its corrosion resistance properties. When chromium is exposed to oxygen in the atmosphere, it forms a thin, invisible, and adherent oxide layer on the surface of the steel called the "passive film."

This passive film acts as a protective barrier, preventing further oxidation and corrosion of the underlying metal. Even if the surface of stainless steel is damaged or scratched, the passive film can self-heal as long as there is sufficient oxygen present. This self-healing property is one of the reasons why stainless steel is highly resistant to rusting and corrosion.

In addition to chromium, stainless steel may also contain other alloying elements such as nickel, molybdenum, and manganese, among others. These elements are added to enhance specific properties of the stainless steel, such as increased strength, improved resistance to pitting corrosion, or better formability.

The combination of chromium and other alloying elements, along with the formation of the passive film, gives stainless steel its excellent resistance to rusting and corrosion, making it a widely used material in various industries, including construction, automotive, food processing, and many others.

While stainless steel is highly resistant to rust and corrosion, it is not completely immune to these processes. Under certain conditions, stainless steel can indeed rust, although the rate of corrosion is significantly lower compared to other types of steel.

There are several factors that can contribute to the rusting of stainless steel, including:

  • Exposure to corrosive environments: Stainless steel can corrode if exposed to highly corrosive substances like chloride ions (commonly found in saltwater), acids, or harsh chemicals. Prolonged exposure to these corrosive environments can compromise the protective passive film on the surface of the stainless steel, leading to rusting.
  • Surface contamination: If stainless steel comes into contact with materials or substances that contain corrosive agents, such as iron particles from other sources, it can cause localized corrosion and rusting.
  • Lack of oxygen: Stainless steel requires oxygen to form and maintain the protective passive film. In oxygen-deprived environments, such as underwater or in tight crevices where oxygen diffusion is limited, stainless steel can be susceptible to localized corrosion and rust.

It's important to note that the extent and severity of rusting in stainless steel will depend on the grade or type of stainless steel, the specific environmental conditions, and the presence of other factors mentioned above. However, compared to regular steel, stainless steel has a significantly higher resistance to rust and corrosion.

If you accidentally drop your knife and it is not covered by warranty, here's what you can do:

  • Assess the damage: Check the knife for any visible signs of damage. Look for chips, cracks, or misalignments in the blade or handle. Evaluate if the knife is still safe and functional to use.
  • Contact House of Knives: Reach out to our support for assistance. You can email us at support@houseofknives.com.au to inquire about your options to rectify the situation. Provide details of the incident and the condition of the knife.
  • Follow their instructions: We will provide guidance on available solutions. Our support team may offer repair services, suggest replacement options, or provide alternative solutions. Follow their instructions to proceed with resolving the issue.
  • Consider professional repair: If the damage is minor and the knife is repairable, you might have the option to seek professional knife repair services. Local knife shops or specialized repair services can often fix minor damages and restore the functionality of the knife.
  • Explore replacement options: If the damage is extensive or irreparable, you may need to consider purchasing a new knife. Our support team can provide recommendations on suitable replacement options based on your needs and preferences.

Remember, accidents happen, but it's essential to handle knives safely to minimize the risk of dropping and damaging them.

  • Your order was not processed and you have not been charged.
  • The email address you specified for your order has a typo, so you would not have received an email to the correct address

At House of Knives, we’re always working on making our store as secure as possible for everyone. That’s why, after placing your order, we may ask for a government ID or have you confirm your legal name and add your address.

This information helps us keep House of Knives secure, fight fraud, and more.

How it works when House of Knives verifies identity

When you’re asked to confirm your identity, you’ll need to add either your legal name and address, or a photo of a government ID (driver licence, passport, or national identity card). Additionally, you may be asked to take a brand new photo of yourself. This is different from your profile photo, which you may also be asked to provide.

When you’ll be asked to confirm your identity

This may happen for a couple of reasons. For example, your billing address doesn't match your shipping address, or additional verification checks are required due to your payment details.

There are also times when House of Knives will ask you to confirm your identity to help us make sure you’re really you.

But whatever the reason, your ID will never be shared.

Types of ID

Depending on your location and what country you’re from, you may be able to add one of the following types of government ID:

- Driver licence

- Passport

- National identity card

Your ID needs to be an official government-issued ID (not an ID for a school, library, gym, etc.) that includes a photo of you.

If you add a passport, make sure the photo includes the numbers located at the bottom of the page with your picture.

For residents of Singapore, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Japan and Korea: No matter which type of ID you add, be sure the image of your ID doesn’t show your identification or registration number. If you take a new photo of your ID, cover the number with tape or your finger when you take the photo, making sure all other info is visible. If you upload an existing photo of your ID, edit it first so that your identification number can’t be seen.

The parties agree to submit the dispute to binding arbitration in accordance with the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) then in effect. Except as otherwise provided herein, the arbitrator shall apply the substantive laws of the Federal Judicial Circuit in which House of Knives’s principle place of business is located, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Within ten (10) calendar days after the arbitration demand is served upon a party, the parties must jointly select an arbitrator with at least five years’ experience in that capacity and who has knowledge of and experience with the subject matter of the dispute. If the parties do not agree on an arbitrator within ten (10) calendar days, a party may petition the AAA to appoint an arbitrator, who must satisfy the same experience requirement. The parties also agree that the AAA’s rules governing Emergency Measures of Protection shall apply in lieu of seeking emergency injunctive relief from a court. Each party shall bear its share of the fees paid for the arbitrator and the administration of the arbitration; however, the arbitrator shall have the power to order one party to pay all or any portion of such fees as part of a well-reasoned decision. The parties agree that the arbitrator shall have the authority to award attorneys’ fees only to the extent expressly authorized by statute or contract. The arbitrator shall have no authority to award punitive damages and each party hereby waives any right to seek or recover punitive damages with respect to any dispute resolved by arbitration. THE PARTIES AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY VIA ARBITRATION AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE ARBITRATION PROCEEDING. Further, unless both parties agree otherwise in a signed writing, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims, and may not otherwise preside over any form of a representative or class proceeding. Except as may be required by law, neither a party nor the arbitrator may disclose the existence, content, or results of any arbitration without the prior written consent of both parties, unless to protect or pursue a legal right. If any term or provision of this Section is invalid, illegal, or unenforceable in any jurisdiction, such invalidity, illegality, or unenforceability shall not affect any other term or provision of this Section or invalidate or render unenforceable such term or provision in any other jurisdiction. If for any reason a dispute proceeds in court rather than in arbitration, the parties hereby waive any right to a jury trial. This arbitration provision shall survive any cancellation or termination of your agreement to participate in any of our Programs.

12. Florida Law: We endeavor to comply with the Florida Telemarketing Act and the Florida Do Not Call Act as applicable to Florida residents. For purposes of compliance, you agree that we may assume that you are a Florida resident if, at the time of opt-in to Program, (1) your shipping address, as provided is located in Florida or (2) the area code for the phone number used to opt-into the Program is a Florida area code. You agree that the requirements of the Florida Telemarketing Act and the Florida Do Not Call Act do not apply to you, and you shall not assert that you are a Florida resident, if you do not meet either of these criteria or, in the alternative, do not affirmatively advise us in writing that you are a Florida resident by sending written notice to us. Insofar as you are a Florida resident, you agree that mobile messages sent by Us in direct response to mobile messages or requests from You (including but are not limited to response to Keywords, opt-in, help or stop requests and shipping notifications) shall not constitute a “telephonic sales call” or “commercial telephone solicitation phone call” for purposes of Florida Statutes Section 501 (including but not limited to sections 501.059 and 501.616), to the extent the law is otherwise relevant and applicable.

13. Miscellaneous: You warrant and represent to Us that you have all necessary rights, power, and authority to agree to these Terms and perform your obligations hereunder, and nothing contained in this Agreement or in the performance of such obligations will place you in breach of any other contract or obligation. The failure of either party to exercise in any respect any right provided for herein will not be deemed a waiver of any further rights hereunder. If any provision of this Agreement is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that this Agreement will otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable. Any new features, changes, updates or improvements of the Program shall be subject to this Agreement unless explicitly stated otherwise in writing. We reserve the right to change this Agreement from time to time. Any updates to this Agreement shall be communicated to you. You acknowledge your responsibility to review this Agreement from time to time and to be aware of any such changes. By continuing to participate in the Program after any such changes, you accept this Agreement, as modified.

In the event that any provision of these Terms of Service is determined to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, such provision shall nonetheless be enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, and the unenforceable portion shall be deemed to be severed from these Terms of Service, such determination shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any other remaining provisions.

These Terms of Service and any separate agreements whereby we provide you Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia.
